How to customize Closed Captions in your Visme project

Adding closed captions to your audio and video content in Visme ensures your project is accessible to a broader audience. Whether presenting or sharing your project, captions can improve viewer comprehension and inclusivity. Here’s how to customize closed captions in your Visme project:

Important:

– Closed captions can be added to audio and video content across your project slides. These subtitles are synced with the timeline and will be displayed in the Editor and Player.

– Once activated, all captions in the project are enabled by default. This includes all audio and video, excluding hotspots, Presenter Studio content, and videos added to mockups or photo grids.

– You can also edit the captions content or disable captions for specific audio or video files in your projects.

The following steps will only be available if you activate closed captioning on the project first.

1
Select the slide where you want to adjust closed caption settings and click on the Timeline option in the top menu to open the project timeline at the bottom of the screen.

2
In the timeline, click the Edit button at the top left, next to the slide name/number or Double Click on the slide name. This will display all the content on that slide in detail.

3
Locate the audio or video file in the timeline, then right-click on it to open a menu.

4
To disable captions for a specific audio or video file, toggle the Disable File Captions switch.

5
To edit the caption content, click on the Edit Captions button. This will open a text box on the left.

6
Adjust the caption text as desired using the text box, then click Save to confirm your changes.

Note: If you want to convert text into professional-sounding speech, use the AI Text-to-Speech Generator.
Note: This feature does not apply to background music. Closed captions can only be activated for audio or video files added in the slide, not for music set as the project’s background sound.
Note: If you embed a video from an external platform such as YouTube, this caption feature will not work. In such cases, you should activate captions directly through the video platform.
