Ruler and Smart Guides are essential for creating flawless designs in Visme! Using this feature you can easily identify the size and precise location of the objects you’re working with and calculate distances from design elements to the other objects around them. It’s also great for visually aligning objects together on a plane so you can ensure your design is visually perfect. (Another great feature for aligning objects together is Align To).
Here’s how you can use the ruler and smart guides on your next project:
From the editor window of your project, right-click on the canvas. A pop-up menu will appear from where you will select the “Ruler & Smart Guides”
Click on the hamburger icon in the editor window of your project. From the dropdown menu, click on the “View Options” button and turn the “Ruler” and/or “Smart Guides” switches on.
By turning on the rulers, you will see the horizontal and vertical rulers on the top and left side of the screen.
While selecting or moving the objects on your canvas, you will see the gray highlight on your rulers. This shows the dimensions of the object that you’ve selected.
Hover over the ruler and then click and drag from the top down and/or from the left to right. You will see the pink colored guide lines on your page.
Place the guide lines on your project to use them to line up the objects in your project correctly. This is also very helpful to allow you to set margins you would like to follow in your project.
Note: Guides are helpful to work in a specific place and alignment on a design.
Select any object on your project and move the cursor to see ratios of the element and the distance between the objects, texts and pictures on your design.
