How to embed Online Content in Visme: URL, HTML, or iFrame?

In Visme, you have different ways to embed external content into your projects: URL, HTML, and iFrame. Each option lets you add different types of content or online media in a unique way, and each has its own purpose. Here’s a simple guide on how each embedding option works, their differences, and when to use them.

URL

What It Is: URL embedments allow you to add a link directly to an external website or resource.

How It Works: A preview of the website within your project will be shown, allowing you to display a webpage in your design without needing extra code.

When to Use: This option is great for embedding simple websites or showing a live preview of a specific webpage, such as a homepage or an article. This is the perfect choice if you just want a quick link to an external source without extra customization. It also works for embedding social media posts directly into your Visme project – give it a try by copying the sharable link to a social post and pasting that into the URL area in the embed window in the Visme editor.

HTML

What It Is: HTML embedments allow you to paste custom HTML code directly into your Visme project. This could include code with specific elements like text, custom buttons, or even some JavaScript. It also allows you to embed dashboards from platforms like Tableau or PowerBI into your Visme projects.

How It Works: With HTML embedding, you have control over the appearance and behavior of the content because you’re using raw HTML. This option may require some knowledge of HTML to work effectively; however, many other systems will give you ready to use HTML code to embed their solution online.

When to Use: Choose HTML embed if you want to add more customized HTML-based content, such as a signup form, a custom-styled button, or specific elements that you can’t achieve with a regular URL. This option is great if you need advanced customization and are comfortable working with HTML code. Some solutions and platforms on the market allow content generated on their platform to be embedded into other websites; these solutions typically require HTML embed code to ensure proper rendering and seamless integration, as they often involve complex or dynamic content. to be heavier in nature; and therefore, use HTML embed code to better support their rendering.

Note: HTML embedment is only available for Enterprise plans.

iFrame

What It Is: iFrame embed is like creating a “window” inside your project to view another webpage or app directly within Visme.

How It Works: The iFrame embed lets you pull content from an external source and display it in your project. It’s ideal for embedding applications or content that needs to run separately, like a YouTube video, Google Slides presentation, social media posts, or an interactive form.

When to Use: iFrame is the best option when you need to include content that’s more complex or interactive, like a video or a form. It’s perfect for apps or tools that need their own space to work correctly within your project.

Choosing the Right Option

Here’s a quick guide on when to use each option:

– URL Embed: Use for quickly linking to a website with a preview.

– HTML Embed: Use for embedding customized or robust content/applications with HTML code.

– iFrame Embed: Use for embedding apps, videos, or interactive tools that require additional space or functionality.

Each embedding option in Visme allows you to add unique content and functionality to your project with ease. With the right choice, you can elevate your design and create a richer experience for your audience.
