Using the Story Points to navigate Whiteboards

Using Visme Whiteboards, you can bring your projects to life with the Story Points feature. This tool lets you guide your audience through your visual story step by step. Whether you’re mapping out a project timeline, showcasing design flows, or creating an engaging walkthrough, Story Points helps you control exactly what your viewers see and when—making the journey smooth, intentional, and impactful.

With Story Points, you can define custom paths across your whiteboard by setting specific “story points”—the areas or objects you want to highlight as users move through your board. You control:

The sequence of focus areas

The speed of movement

The storytelling flow

Here’s how to set it up:

Open your whiteboard project and select the object you want to use as your first story point.

With the object or area selected, click on the Actions button in the top toolbar.

In the Actions menu, select the Story tab.

Click the Add Story Point button. This sets your first focus point. You can select an individual element or click and drag your mouse to select a broader area.

Repeat the process to create the rest of your story path. You can move across different sections of the whiteboard, selecting key areas or elements to highlight along the way.

At the bottom of the Story panel, you’ll see a dropdown labeled Speed. Choose how fast the viewer moves from one story point to the next: Slow, Normal, or Fast. Pick the speed that best fits your content and audience.

Once your story points are set and your speed is selected, click the Present button at the top of the screen to see your visual story in action. This lets you experience the path just like your audience will, so you can make any final adjustments if needed.
