User Permissions in Visme

In Visme, user permissions determine what actions users can perform within a workspace, ensuring smooth collaboration and proper access control. Whether you’re managing a team, overseeing project work, or contributing as a member, understanding these roles will help you navigate your workspace and workflows efficiently. Below is an overview of each role available in Visme and their respective permissions.

 

Owner

The Owner is the user who creates the workspace. This role has the highest level of access and cannot be restricted by any other role. Owners, by deafult, are set to have Administrator permission but with additional capabilities that other users set with Administrator permission  do not have.

Owner Capabilities:

Full control over the workspace, including:

– Updating the Workspace Name and adding a Logo

– Upgrading the Workspace

– Adding and removing users

– Assigning User Roles to users in the Workspace

– Viewing the Workspace Audit Log (Enterprise Plan)

– Managing the Brand Kit and Brand Templates

– Accessing project Analytics for all projects in the Workspace

– Viewing invoices and billing details

– As viewing and editing access to all projects within the workspace

Important: The Owner role can only be reassigned with the help of Visme’s Support Team. If you need to transfer ownership, please contact the Visme Support Team for assistance.

Admin

The Admin permission provides almost the same level of control as the Owner, with a few exceptions. A workspace can have as many Administrator users as needed, according to the requirements of your workspace and user setup.

Admin Capabilities:

– Adding and removing users

– Assigning User Roles to users in the Workspace

– Upgrading the Workspace

– Viewing the Workspace Audit Log (Enterprise Plan)

– Managing the Brand Kit and Brand Templates

– Accessing project Analytics for all projects in the Workspace

Key Difference from Owner:

– An Admin cannot remove or change the Owner’s role.

– Admins are unable to edit the Workspace Name or Logo.

Member

The Member permission has limited access/capabilities in relation to the Owner/Admin. This is a great permission for the day to day end user who is in your Workspace to generate content, but is not necessarily responsible for operational focuses and content management standards within the workspace.

Member Capabilities:

– Creating projects (which the user will own) and sharing them with other users in the Workspace for collaboration

– Collaborating on projects that other users own, once access is granted to them by the project owner or an Admin user

– Using project templates and brand settings as defined in the Brand Kit by Administrators

– Inviting other people to join the Workspace

– Viewing the list of users in the Workspace

Limitations:

– Members cannot activate or deactivate users.

– Members can only see projects or project folders that have been shared with them or that they own. This ensures privacy for teams that require different levels of access to the content created within the workspace.

– Members cannot edit the Brand Kit settings, which is helpful to teams who need their team to create on-brand content within the platform.

Custom Roles 

For Enterprise plan users, Visme offers Custom Roles, allowing teams to create unique roles tailored to their team structure. These roles have access to different areas/capabilities of the platform and are useful when managing users and their project/folder access within the workspace. Learn more about Custom Roles here.
