Using the Animation Timeline in Visme

Adding animations to your projects is a powerful way to capture attention and keep your audience engaged. Visme’s Animation Timeline gives you precise control over how your animations appear, how long they last, and in what order they play—down to the second. Whether you’re adjusting slide transitions, audio sync, or the entrance of design elements, the timeline allows you to fine-tune everything in one central place.

How to Access the Animation Timeline

There are two easy ways to open the Animation Timeline:

From the Editor, go to the top left menu above the sidebar and select View Settings. Then toggle on the Animation Timeline.

Or…

Click the Timeline button located in the top menu. This will expand the animation timeline at the bottom of the Editor.

Note: A slim version of the timeline usually appears by default in most content types.

How the Animation Timeline Works

When the timeline is expanded, you’ll see a view of all your project’s slides. Each thumbnail features a slide name, its duration, and a transition icon.

At the top, you’ll find a field that indicates the duration of the entire animation/project.

Clicking on the Play button will play all the slides in your project.

Pulling on a slide thumbnail will expand its duration, and shrinking it will decrease the duration.

You can easily drag slides around, changing the order of your animation/project.

Double-clicking on a slide will open an advanced view of the slide’s animation.

Note: From this view, you can also add a slide transition.

Upon selecting an object in the slide’s timeline, additional options in the top menu will appear, such as hiding, locking, duplicating, deleting, and changing the layer’s color.

Also, the Animate menu will automatically appear at the left side menu for animating a single design object at a time.

Note: If you have a video within your slide, you have several options for how the video will be displayed in your project. Also, you will be able to easily trim, split or animate the video. Learn more here.
