How to Adjust Formatting After Importing a File into Visme

Importing brings your existing PDFs and PowerPoint presentations into Visme in about a minute, so you can keep building on work you’ve already done instead of starting from scratch.

Every file is built a little differently, so a few elements may look slightly different once they arrive in Visme. Each of these takes just a few clicks to polish, and this guide shows you exactly how.

Elements that work a little differently

A few elements can’t be carried over exactly as they appear in the original file. Here’s what to expect and how to get the look you want.

Gradient backgrounds (PDF): A gradient may not carry over, and the page can appear blank. Reapply the gradient from the background settings, or import the PowerPoint version of your file if you have it.

Charts and tables (PDF): Charts and tables arrive as images, so the data isn’t editable. Recreate them with Visme charts and tables to edit the data, restyle them and make them interactive.

Animations (PowerPoint): Animations and transitions aren’t carried over. Add Visme animations and transitions, with plenty of options to bring your content to life.

Slide masters (PowerPoint): Elements from your slide master, such as logos or footers, appear as separate images on each slide. You can edit, move or remove them on each slide as needed.

Give your project a quick review

Everything else should come across as expected. Still, a quick look at each page after importing helps you catch any small detail worth adjusting. Pay attention to:

Text: check fonts, colors and line breaks. If a font was replaced, upload it to your Brand Kit and reapply it.

Layer order: make sure shapes and images sit in the right order. Use the layer options to bring an element forward or send it back.

Arrows and icons: confirm they point in the right direction. Flip or rotate them if needed.

Alignment: check that rows of small icons or boxes are lined up. The alignment tools fix this in one click.
