How to Download Your Visme Project as HTML5 for Offline Use

The HTML5 download lets you take your project fully offline — preserving animations, interactivity, video, and audio. It’s the best option for presenting in low-connectivity environments or when you need a self-hosted version of your project.

Note: Third-party embedded content such as YouTube videos or live web embeds requires an internet connection and will not function offline.

1
In the editor, click the Download button in the top-right corner.

2
Select Present Offline, then click HTML5. Before downloading, review the Advanced Settings: Control Bar adds navigation buttons for audience-led browsing; Presenter View opens a second screen for your private notes; Public Notes shows or hides speaker notes to your audience.

Note: If your slides include Speaker Notes, enabling Presenter View is recommended for the best experience.

3
Click Download. Your project will generate as a zipped HTML5 package — this may take a moment depending on the size and complexity of your project.

4
Extract the downloaded file. On Mac: double-click the zip. On Windows: right-click and select Extract All. Move the extracted folder to your desktop or a dedicated project folder for easy access.

5
Open the extracted folder and double-click index.html to launch your project in your default browser.

Note: Google Chrome is recommended for the best experience. Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari are also supported. Internet Explorer 11 is not supported.

6
If you enabled the Control Bar, navigation tools will appear at the bottom of the screen: use the left and right arrows to move through slides, type a slide number to jump directly, or open the slide list to navigate out of order.

7
Additional offline tools are available from the toolbar: Mute/Unmute for audio, Fullscreen (bottom-right icon), and the Hamburger Menu (☰) for Presenter View, pointer and drawing tools, camera view, timer, and cookie settings.

8
When activated, Presenter View opens in a new browser window — your command center for controlling the main presentation. Ideal for dual-display setups. From here you can pause or reset the timer without affecting your system clock.

Tip: Open the HTML5 file while connected to the internet the first time. This allows any embedded online assets to load and be cached by your browser. After that, you can disconnect and open the file locally to test how it performs offline.

Note: The HTML5 export gives you a self-hosted version of your project. You manage the file structure on your own server. If you update the project in Visme, you will need to re-export and replace the existing files.

Common issues

The project doesn’t display correctly when I open index.html | Open the file in Google Chrome for the most reliable results. Make sure you’re opening index.html from inside the extracted folder — not from within the zip file.

Some content isn’t loading when I’m offline | Third-party embedded content (YouTube videos, live web embeds) requires an internet connection. Open the file once while connected to the internet first so your browser can cache as many assets as possible.

I updated my project in Visme but the downloaded version looks outdated | HTML5 exports are not updated automatically. You need to re-export the project from Visme and replace the old files with the new ones.

Presenter View isn’t opening | Presenter View must be enabled in the Advanced Settings before downloading. If you didn’t enable it, re-download the project with the Presenter View option turned on.
